Biographical Information

Governor Phil Bryant appointed Chancery Judge Dawn Beam of Sumrall to serve the vacancy of Justice Randy Pierce, who resigned effective February 1, 2016 to become the director of the Judicial College at the University of Mississippi. Justice Beam will take office February 15, 2016.

Justice Beam earned her law degree from the University of Mississippi. She has been a chancery judge since 2010. She was the Lamar County prosecuting attorney from 2007 to 2010, worked in private practice for 16 years, and was child support counsel for the state Department of Human Services from 1989 to 1994. She led a Hinds County task force on enforcement to increase child support collections, and has worked tirelessly to resolve issues regarding placement and supervision of abused and neglected children. She spearheaded the implementation of Mississippi Electronic Courts for the entire 10th Chancery Court District.

Justice Beam is married to Dr. Stephen Beam and has five children.
